The Maxxis ESC Thule Showdown at Killington Bike Park is a major event for downhill and enduro mountain bike racers on the East Coast. Racers compete on challenging natural and man-made trails that wind through Killington’s three distinct mountain areas. The “Thule Showdown” weekend features both Enduro and Downhill races, with the largest prize purse on the MAXXIS Eastern States Cup schedule awarded to riders who conquer both disciplines. This multi-day event attracts racers of all skill levels, from beginners to experts, thanks to Killington’s diverse terrain that caters to every rider’s comfort level. It’s a true test of skill and endurance, set against the backdrop of Vermont’s stunning scenery.

Killington Bike Park features three high-speed lifts serving over 30 miles of trails. From beginner to expert and classic New England singletrack to Gravity Logic’s signature flow trails, Killington Bike Park has terrain suitable for everyone.

Three unique mountain areas make up our gravity-fueled bike park. Snowshed: Home of our beginner terrain with plenty of intermediate trails to keep you progressing once you get the hang of it; Ramshead: Home of our signature freeride trails with intermediate and advanced terrain; Killington Peak: Offering classic New England trails featuring plenty of rock and roots.

  • 45 miles of trails serviced by the K-1 Express Gondola
  • 1,700-foot vertical drop spread across five mountain areas
  • Trails range from classic cross-country singletrack to challenging big-bike downhill and freeriding trails
  • Natural and man-made features on select downhill trails

VOLUNTEER HERE!! 

For each shift of volunteer duty, volunteers will receive 1 Killington lift ticket, valid for one year from original earned date. Volunteers will also be provided a boxed lunch at the start of their shift.

What do volunteers do?

Course marshal positions will be outdoors & along the mountain bike racecourse. Course marshals are responsible for ensuring rider safety and traffic control. Volunteers will be placed at a specific location on the course & some hiking may be required. A course marshal meeting detailing your full duties will take place at the beginning of the shift start times.

PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR LIFT PASS, IF YOU LOSE IT AND DON’T HAVE THE PICTURE YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT FROM KILLINGTON

** NOTE: All riders on the Race Tracks at Killington on Saturday and Sunday must be registered racers with number plates. Can you imagine if all 300+ racers brought a friend?

All racers please note:

All racers must use the dedicated Maxxis ESC Racer’s lift line at Ramshead and PLEASE be respectful of all Killington employees including the lift attendants

DH racers please note:

There will be one DH track walk time slot from 9am -9:45am Saturday morning. Track walkers must stay on the DH trail and there is no tack walking allowed at any other time at Killington this weekend. No Bikes on lift during Track Walk

Enduro racers please note:

The transfer to Stage 1 and the K1 Gondola will be pedal only. The lift access for the enduro race is the KI gondola to access Stages 1-2-3-4 and Ramshead to access Stage 5

No Points will carry over to a new class when a racer upgrades or downgrades their class.
MAXXIS ESC Racing Age is the racers age on December 31, 2024
NO Racing License Required

Racers Must start with their class and at the assigned time. If a racer misses their class starting times, they will incur a time penalty or disqualification.
Final Class Results will be posted 5 minutes after the last racer finishes in each class.
Each racer’s time and current positioning will be available as soon as they finish.
We will award medals and prizes at our tents 15 minutes after the posted Final Class Results.
No Reruns unless the course is closed during your race run.

Pre–registered racers will only have to fill out a venue waiver at the event. 

ONSITE REGISTERING Racers under 18 must have a parent sign their waiver or supply a notarized parental signed copy.

MAXXIS ESC RACE REGISTRATION REFUND POLICY

 

  • Refunds are available less a $20 handling fee until 14 days before the event.
  • Race entries cannot be transferred to a different event 
  • Race entries can be transferred to another person for a $20 handling fee until 7 Days Before the event

ENDURO:

 ENDURO: Once activated it is Imperative that Enduro Racers DO NOT Allow their Race chips to be idle near the start or finish beacons; The chips will constantly read the times broadcast by the beacons. The timing chips have a capacity of 100 time stamps and will quickly run out of space. After reading 100 time stamps, the timing chip will no longer read any more times. As a result, no times will be recorded, and you will be declared a DNF.

ENDURO: Enduro Racers MUST hand in their timing chips within 15 minutes after finishing the last stage or they will be penalized 1 minute, after 30 minutes racers will be DQ’d from the event

Enduro Racers will be charged the replacement cost of $100.00 for broken, lost or non-returned timing chips

Enduro Racers must be present at the racers meeting where we will activate their chips

ENDURO: MASTERS 50+ CLASS

  • The MASTERS 50+ Class will start first and race on Stages 5-4-1-2-3 in that order

ENDURO: YOUTH 14U CLASS

      • The 14U Class will race stages 5-4-1-3 and in that order. 

      • Kates Kid 12U and 14U racers may only compete in one discipline per weekend

    ENDURO: KATE’S KIDS’ CLASS

        • Kate’s Kids, Youth 14U and Kate’s Lite will do  Stan’s Enduro Stages 5-4-1-3 in that order

        • The Kate’s Kids’ Class preregistration fee is 100% Refunded after a parent volunteers and completes course marshaling for the race on Sunday.

        • Parents must register to volunteer at the racer’s online registration time to be eligible for the refund.

        • All you need is a fun attitude and a cell phone in case of an emergency.

        • Late or onsite registrations will incur the $10 late fee and not be eligible for the volunteer refund.

        • In the Enduro, racers in this class will compete in fewer race segments than other racers.

        • This is the “for the FUN of it” class!!

      The racers in the Kate’s Kids’ Class can only participate in one discipline at Oakley Showdowns.

      Racers must be 12 or younger on December 31, 2024 to be eligible.

      ENDURO: KATE’S LITE CLASS
      This class will race for a reduced rate thanks to KATE’S REAL FOOD and the MAXXIS Eastern States Cup. This class is intended for beginner and new enduro racers to experience the excitement of enduro racing. Participants will receive a total race time and a time for each segment but will not compete for Maxxis ESC Podiums, Prizes, or the Series Championship. This class is all about having fun! The Kate’s Enduro Lite format provides enjoyable tracks suitable for riders of all levels, focusing on women, kids, and first-timers. The emphasis is on learning and having a good time with like-minded mountain bikers rather than results or prizes.

      PLEASE NOTE: KATE’S Lite Class racers are required to stay with the KATE’S Kids Class and race the segments in the same order. KATE’S Enduro Lite Class Racers may only compete in enduro at our Oakley Showdown Events.

      DOWNHILL:

       

      DOWNHILL: DH Racers MUST be at the start for their posted start time. Racers not at the start for their scheduled start time will be disqualified from the day’s competition if their Maxxis ESC Racer’s DH class results have been posted at the finish or registration area

      DOWNHILL: ESC SPEED ZONE
      The fastest DH racers in every class in the ESC SPEED ZONE are awarded some ESC Speed Zone swag

      DOWNHILL: Seeding  is Saturday at 3pm for Expert, Pro and Masters only

      THULE SHOWDOWN:

      The “Thule Showdown” weekends will feature both Enduro and DH races on the same day at the largest resorts on our schedule. The ESC will present high-end prizing for the top racers that race both Enduro and Downhill during the weekend.

      RACERS MUST FILL OUT THE THULE SHOWDOWN SHEET AT THE ENDURO TIMING DESK BEFORE THE START OF THE FIRST RACE OF THE EVENT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THULE SHOWDOWN SERIES POINTS AND PRIZES

      No race or series points will be counted if a racer only finishes one or less discipline at an event.

      If a racer changes classes from their original online entry, no points will be awarded for the series or the individual Thule Showdown.

      The Kate’s Kids and 14U Class racers can only participate in one discipline at Showdowns.

      GENERAL INFORMATION:

      MAXXIS ESC Series Race Podium
      The top 5 racers in each class will make the podium, with the first, second, and third place receiving custom Eastern States Cup Podium Medals. The fourth and fifth places will receive prizes from Kate’s Real Food. Some venues may offer additional prizes as part of their enhanced prize packages.

      1st = $600
      2nd = $300
      3rd = $200
      4th = $100
      5th =   $50

      THULE SHOWDOWN BONUS
      The Thule Showdown Series events will carry 110% Series Points!

      INTENSE BIKES PODIUM PAYBACK Program pays cash or certificates to racers who have raced with an Intense bike and have registered with Intense. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION 

      Kate’s Cash, When the number of racers in the men’s amateur class exceeds 50 or in the women’s amateur class exceeds 20, the class will receive a cash prize in addition to regular product prizes. The cash will be awarded as follows:

          • $100  -1st

          • $50   – 2nd

          • $25    -3rd

        Please drive slowly through the neighborhood while visiting our venues, we do not want to upset the neighbors and please visit the local restaurants and let them know you are there because of the enduro race.

        Snowshed Lodge: will be open 9:30am-4:30pm all weekend, with lunch service starting around 11am.

        CAMPING:

        • There is no charge for camping this weekend at Killington, please pick up your trash!
        • The Vale Road camping area is for tent and RV camping only. Please obey designated signs for tent & RV parking zones.
        • There will be limited RV camping at Ramshead Thurs. June 27 – Mon. July 1 ONLY
        • Overflow parking for trailers and RV’s use Upper Snowshed.

        PARKING: In the lots

        INFORMATION:

        • NUMBER PLATES– Will be sold at registration for $10 each. A 2024 MAXXIS ESC Number Plate must be affixed correctly to your bike always while on the tracks. You will not be allowed to ride without one. No cuts or trimming is allowed on the plate, please.
        • CASH ONLY PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO ATMs at KILLINGTON
        • BUG SPRAY – You will want it and please don’t ask for ours…lol
        • COLD – Temps expected in the 30’s overnights
        • RAIN – Don’t even go there !!

         

        Racers MUST be present at the Series Final Award Ceremonies or at the Race Award Ceremony 
        to Receive Awards and/or Cash Payouts!
